Rowland Thornton 
Rowland was born in 1653 in Petsworth Parish, Gloucester Co., Virginia. Rowland's father was William Thornton and his mother was Elizabeth Rowland. His paternal grandparents were William Thornton and Barbara Westby. He had two brothers and a sister, named William, Francis and Esther. He was the second youngest of the four children. He died at the age of 48 in 1701.-
