NUCKOLS
Mrs. Margaret Snead Nuckols, age 86, of Rockville. passed away at St. Mary's Hospital on Monday evening April 17, 2000 after a series of strokes. Born to Andrew Broaddus Snead and Gay Vaughan Snead, she grew up in Richmond and graduated from John Marshall high School and from the college of William and Mary (1935). There she was a member of Kappa Delta and continued actively in the Fidelis Chapter of her sorority until the time of her death. After college graduation, Mrs. Nuckols began a career of teaching and library work which took her to Buckingham, Goochland and Blackstone High Schools and eventually back to Richmond, where she was a librarian at Binford Middle School for over 20 years. She retired in 1976 after more than 35 years in public education. She remained active in her retirement in the Rockville Garden Club and in the functions of Beta Chapter, Alpha Delta Kappa and of the Olde Garde of William and Mary. Mrs Nuckols was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Joel Woodrow Nuckols; and her young son, Woody. She is survived by her son Joel Woodrow Nuckols III; her daughter-in-law, Rebecca Jane Nuckols; three grandchildren, Joel, Mary Margaret and Virginia Nuckols; and by several nieces and nephews. Her family will receive friends from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Friday, April 21 at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 West Broad St. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 22 at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
