Barbara Ann was born in 1839 in Fluvanna Co., Virginia. Barbara Ann's father was Stephen Seay and her mother was Melinda Howard. Her paternal grandparents were Mathew Seay and Rebecca Perry. She had five brothers and two sisters, named William H., Stephen F., Joseph M., Lucian Minor, Isaac F., Sarah E. and Willie E.. She was the second oldest of the eight children.-
