Obituary:
PAYNE Virginia Crawford Payne, age 76, of Columbia, died April 29,
2000 in Henrico Doctors Hospital. She was born April 30, 1923 in Richmond, daughter of the late Andrew G. and Gracie Ellis Saintsing.
Mrs. Payne was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Richard Crawford and her second husband Marion L. Payne. Survivors include five daughters, Barbara Ringwood of Columbia, Linda Johnson of Goochland, Vivian James of Chester, Judy Saunders of Courtland and Heidi Powell of Richmond; one brother, Andrew G. Saintsing Jr. of Richmond; one sister, Polly Bowers of Hopewell; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 1, at the Goshen Christian Church Cemetery. The Rev. Donald Holmberg will officiate. Family will receive friends at the Sheridan Funeral Home, Kents Store 5 to 7 p.m. tonight.
