Hugh Nelson was born on August 30th, 1906. Hugh Nelson's father was Hugh Nelson Pendleton and his mother was Serena Pendleton Dandridge. His paternal grandparents were Dudley Digges Pendleton and Helen Boteler; his maternal grandparents were Edmund Pendleton Dandridge and Elizabeth Pitts. He had three sisters named Serena Dandridge, Helen Boteler and Isabella Lawrence. He was the second oldest of the four children.-
