Mary A. was born in 1796. Mary A.'s father was William McGehee and her mother was Charlotte Gilliam. Her paternal grandfather was Jacob McGehee; her maternal grandparents were Devereaux Gilliam and Edith Ellis. She had two brothers and two sisters, named William, John, Elizabeth Gilliam and Judith. She was the third oldest of the five children.-
