Ellen's father was John Leigh and her mother was Elizabeth Greenhill. Her paternal grandparents were Zachariah Leigh and Christina ?; her maternal grandparents were David Greenhill and Catherine Claiborne. She had five brothers and three sisters, named Zachariah Greenhill, Emanuel Jones, Paschal Greenhill, John, David Greenhill, Sarah, Catherine and Elizabeth. She died in 1824 in Amelia Co. Virginia.-
