Elizabeth Caroline was born on December 30th, 1740.  Elizabeth Caroline's father was Frederick Louis Hanover and her mother was Augusta von Saxe-Gotha.  Her paternal grandparents were George II Augustus Hanover and Wilhelmina-Caroline von Brandenburg. She had five brothers and three sisters, named George III William Frederick, William Henry, Henry Frederick, Frederick William, Edward Augustus, Augusta, Caroline Matilda and Louisa Anne. She had two half-brothers named Vane and Charles.
