Jesse Benton was born on June 27th, 1878 in Hanover Co., Virginia. Jesse Benton's father was Jesse Butler Hall and his mother was Betty F. Kelly. His paternal grandparents were Thompson Hall and Elizabeth Harris. He had a brother and a sister, named James B. and Willie Thomas. He had five half-brothers and three half-sisters, named George F., Julian C., Robert T., Barton, Samuel E., Sarah E., Melissa Ann and Rosa Nelson. He died at the age of 81 on July 21st, 1959 in Spotsylvania Co., Virginia.-
