George Washington Davis 
George Washington was born in December 1847 in Virginia.1 George Washington's father was George Dixon Davis and his mother was Mary Ann Wills. His paternal grandparents were Samuel Davis and Anna Lipscomb. He had two brothers and three sisters, named John Wills, Thomas Dixon, Mary Virginia, Alice Smith and Annie Laurie. He was the second youngest of the six children. He died at the age of 58 on June 20th, 1906 in Richmond, Virginia. He was buried on June 22nd, 1906 in Riverview Cemetery, Richmond, VA.2 1 General Notes

Mr. George W. Davis
George W. Davis died at his residence, 2012 Ivy Avenue, at 10:15 o'clock yesterday morning. He was fifty-six years old and leaves a wife and nine children - Mrs. C. E. Lewis, Mrs. Annie L. Eldridge, Messrs. George H., P.. Wilbur, E. J. Hatcher, Percy H., Frank L., and Master Eldridge.
Mr. Davis was a well-known tailor of this city, and for a number of years had his place of business on Fifth Street between Broad and Grace. The funeral will take place at Grace Street Baptist Church, Friday evening at 5 o'clock. Interment will be in River View Cemetery.
