James was born in 1691 in Henrico Co., VA. James' father was James Cocke and his mother was Elizabeth Pleasants. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Cocke and Agnes Powell; his maternal grandparents were John Pleasants and Jane Larcome. He had a brother and two sisters, named Pleasants, ? and Elizabeth Pleasants. He died about 1775 in Henrico Co., VA.-
