His paternal grandparents were George Cammack and Catherine ?; his maternal grandparents were John Chew and Ann Fox. He had eight brothers and five sisters, named Robert Chew, Charles William, Addison Beverley, George Durrett, ?, Claiborne Chew, ?, John Chew, Malvina A., Mary Elizabeth, Caroline Matilda, Lucy Ann and Maria Theodora. He was the second oldest of the fourteen children. He died in New Orleans, Louisiana.-
