Paul Venable's father was William Nicholas Brown and his mother was Emily Carrington Moseley. His paternal grandparents were James Johnson Brown and Jane Lewis Martin. He had two brothers and two sisters, named William Moseley, James Bennett, Louise Carrington and Rosa Lewis. He had two half-sisters named Ethel Ashlin and Laura Hamilton.-
