Benjamin Robinson's father was Lawrence Battaile and his mother was Ann Hay Taliaferro. His paternal grandparents were Lawrence Battaile and Sarah Robinson; his maternal grandparents were Francis Whitaker Taliaferro and Jane Taliaferro. He had five brothers and three sisters, named John, Francis Whitaker, Charles, Lawrence, William Woodford, Ann Champe, Jane Taliaferro and Sarah.-
