Henry was born in 1673 in "Meese", Gloucester Co., VA.  Henry's father was John Armistead and his mother was Judith Bowles Robinson.  His paternal grandparents were William Armistead and Anne Ellis. He had a brother and two sisters, named William, Judith and Elizabeth.  He died at the age of 67 in 1740.
