*Hugh was born in 1271 in Richards Castle, Herefordshire, , England.¹ *Hugh's father was *Robert Mortimer and his mother was *Joyce La Zouche. His paternal grandparents were Hugh Mortimer and *Agatha De Ferrers; his maternal grandparents were William La Zouche and Maud Mortimer. He was an only child. He died at the age of 33 on July 20th, 1304 in Worcester, Worcestershire, England.¹
