John Mitchell

John was born on May 4th, 1774 in Guilford, North Carolina, USA. John's father was *Adam Mitchell and his mother was *Elizabeth McMachen. His paternal grandparents were *Robert Mitchell and *Margaret LNU; his maternal grandparents were John McMechan and Isabella McMechan. He had seven brothers and four sisters, named William, Adam, Joseph, Samuel, *David, James, Hezekiah B, Margaret Peggy, Elizabeth Ibby, Rebeckah and Jennet. He was the third oldest of the twelve children. He had two half-brothers named *Robert and Hugh. He died at the age of 69 in 1843 in Ashmore, Coles, Illinois, USA.
