Malcolm I 
Malcolm I was born in 0954 in Scotland.1 Malcolm I's father was Kenneth II Ap Malcolm I Or MacKenneth and his mother was Lady Leinster, Queen of Scotland. His paternal grandparents were MALCOLM I SCOTLAND and Scotland; his maternal grandparents were *FNU Duncan and *UNK. He had a half-sister named Anleta Thora Donada. He died at the age of 80 on November 25th, 1034 in Glamis, Scotland.1 General Notes
KING MALCOLM MAC KENNITH, II
Malcolm (II) Mackenneth (c. 954-1034)
King of Scotland from 1005. He was the son of Kenneth II, and gained the throne by defeating and killing Kenneth III. In 1016 he won a great victory over Eadulf Cudel at Carham on the Tweed, which resulted in northern Northumbria becoming part of the Scottish kingdom. He was succeeded by his grandson Duncan I. He is responsible for creating laws, especially of succession, that are still in use.

The many names of this Scottish King are very confusing - he was called Mael Coluim mac Cinaedha, Malcolm MacKenneth, and Kenneth MacKenneth. Also called King of Scots Malcolm II mac Kenneth. He was born circa 954. He was the son of C ináed mac Máel Coluim, rí Alban and an unknown Lady of Leinster. When Edgar crowned King of England, he received the pledges of alliance from six kings, including: Kenneth II of Scotland; Kenneth's son Malcolm of Cumbria and Strathclyde; Maccus of Man and the Western Isles; Iago of Gwynedd; and perhaps one or more of the Norse princes established in Ireland. Máel Coluim mac Cináeda appears to have been Subking of Cumbria and Strathclyde between 990 and 1005, and 15th King of Scots between 1005 and 1034. Máel Coluim mac Cináeda killed and succeeded his 1st cousin, Kenneth III, on 25 March 1005. He was badly defeated by the North Easterners, again led by Uhtred of Bamburgh, during an attack on the city of Durham in 1006. He was a witness where U htred "the Bold", Earl of Northumbria appointed Earl of Northumberland by King Athelred of England and Wessex following his success against Malcolm of the Scots in 1006. Annals of Ulster 1006: "A battle between the men of Albu and the Saxons, and the Scots were defeated and a great number of their nobles left dead. / Bellum eter fhiru Alban & Saxanu co remaidh for Albanchu co fargabsat ar a n-deghdhaine." Máel Coluim mac Cináeda, rí Alban and Uhtred "the Bold", Earl of Northumbria were fought a battle in 1008 at Carham. Scots, under Malcolm II, defeat an invading army of Danes, under Sweyn I "Forkbeard." Máel Coluim mac Cináeda, rí Alban repelled an invading army of Danes led by Sweyn Forkbeard in 1010 at Mortlack, north-west of Aberdeen, Scotland. He was a witness where S veinn Tveskaeg Haraldsson, King of Denmark and England attempted an invasion of Scotland, but was defeated by Malcolm II in 1010 at Mortlack, north-west of Aberdeen, Scotland. Máel Coluim mac Cináeda, rí Alban was a witness where T horfinnr Sigurdsson, Orknøyjarl made Earl of Caithness by his grandfather the Scottish King Malcolm MacKenneth, who thereby claimed a right to dispose of territory over which he had previously had no control, in 1014. Máel Coluim mac Cináeda, rí Alban was overcame the Danes in 1017. He inflicted a heavy defeat on the Northumbrians under the leadership of Earl Eadulf Cudel (brother of the late Earl Uhtred) in a decisive battle in 1019 at Carham on Tweed. All the Northumbrian territory from Edinburgh to the Tweed was by the Scots. The Tweed formed a border between the English and the Scots for many centuries afterwards. The victory was particularly sweet for King Malcolm as Owen the King of Strathclyde was also killed in the battle leaving Malcolm to claim Strathclyde as part of his kingdom. He paid tribute to King Canute in 1027. Annals of Ulster 1034: "Mael Coluim son of Cinaed, king of Scotland, died. He died on 25 November 1034 at Glamis Castle, allegedly murdered. Máel Coluim mac Cináeda, rí Alban was buried in Iona.
