Richard was born in 1186 in London, Middlesex, England.1 Richard's father was Richard, 6th Earl of Clare, Hertford and Gloucester, Magna Charta Surety DeClare and his mother was AMICE Countess of Gloucester Fitz Robert. His paternal grandparents were *Earl of Hertford De Clare Roger and *Maud De St. Hilary; his maternal grandparents were *2nd Earl of Gloucester Fitz Robert William Mafonache and *Hawise De Beaumont. He had a brother and a sister, named Gilbert and Maud 'Matilda'. He was the youngest of the three children. He died at the age of 42 on March 4th, 1228 in London, Middlesex, England.1 -
