John was born in 1384 in Throckmorton,County Warwickshire,England.  John's father was Sir Thomas Throckmorton of Throckmorton, Worcester, England and his mother was Agnes Besford.  His paternal grandparents were Sir John Throckmorton of Throckmorton, Worcester, England and Anne de Abberbury; his maternal grandfather was Sir Alexander Besford.  He was an only child.  He died at the age of 61 on April 14th, 1445.
