    Lady Serenei of Lys was the last daughter from an impoverished Valyrian family. She was cold and haughty towards others at court, but was considered the most beautiful of Aegon's mistresses. Rumours spread that she used dark magic to maintain her youth and beauty, rumours that followed her daughter, Lady Shiera.
    
    Lady Serenei was also rumored to have been much older than King Aegon IV.  She died in childbed, bringing forth Shiera.
