Richard Ponsonby was born on July 8th, 1790 in Nk, Ireland. Richard Ponsonby's father was George Webb and his mother was Caroline Elizabeth Boyd. His paternal grandparents were George Webb and Jane Swords. He had seven brothers named Charles Campbell, Hugh George, Arthur William, Saint Lawrence, Thomas Montgomerie, Robert Boyd and Bateman. He was the fourth youngest of the eight children.-
