Eliza was born about 1824 in Caheragh, Cork, Ireland. Eliza's father was Richard Webb and her mother was Mary Beamish. Her paternal grandparents were Richard Webb and Eliza Browne; her maternal grandparents were Samuel Beamish and Mary Hamilton. She had four brothers and a sister, named Richard, Samuel Beamish, John Henry, Henry Hamilton Cox and Mary Hamilton. She was the third youngest of the six children.-
