Mendi was born in 1921 in Uzhgorod (=Ungvar=Huszt).1  Mendi's father was Mordechai =HEB(Mordekhay מרדכי)=YID(Mote מוטע)=ROM(Marcel,Marcu,Max,Marim)=ENG(Mark)=GER(Markus,Max) Fried (of Huszt) {=Fried's _th generation} and his mother was Esther =HEB(Esther אסתר)=YID(Iente,Ite,Ecke,Etyah ינטע,איטה,אקה,עטיה)=ROM(Estera,Eti,Ita)=ENG(Esther)=GER(Jute,-n)=POL(Yetla יטלא) Copelovici {=Copelovici's _th generation}.  His paternal grandparents were Ahron =HEB(Aharon אהרן)=YID(Urn אהרן)=ROM(Aron)=ENG(Aaron)=GER(Ahron) Fried {=Fried's _th generation} and Zhava (b.Golde) =HEB(Zehavah זהבה)=YID(Golde גולדה)=ROM(Golda) MISSING SURNAME {=_th generation}; his maternal grandparents were Aron or Zalman =HEB()=YID(_) Copelovici Copelovici's _th generation and Leah =HEB(Leah לאה)=YID(Leie לאה)=ROM(Leia,Lia)=ENG(Lucy) MISSING SURNAME {=_th generation}. He had two brothers and five sisters, named Dudi, Ya'acov, Roji, Blonka, Gloria, Marghit and Sheindi.  He was the fourth oldest of the eight children.  He died in the Holocaust, d.5744, at the age of 23 in 1944 in Auschwitz-Birkenau.2
