Iancu was born in 1872 in Botoşani.1  Iancu's father was UNKNOWN PATERNAL ANCESTOR SURNAMED Fehler (also: Feler,Feller) and his mother was UNKNOWN MATERNAL ANCESTORS. He had twenty-three brothers and eight sisters, named Zeide, Şapsă, Chiva, Aizic, Ştrul, Şmaia-Iosub, Daniel, Strul, Altăr, Ştrul-Simon, Beril, MISSING GIVENAME, Moişe, Pinhas, Zeilic, Avram-Haim, Iosub, Iosub, Herşcu, Avram, Berl, Litman, Boţur, (soţia sau fiica lui) ... Feller, (soţia sau fiica lui) ... Feller, Heina, Sosia, Ita, Hana-Beila, Haia-Ita and Bruha.  He was the twelfth oldest of the  children.2
