    Thomas Peter McDonald born circa 1795 according to list by Tessa Kruger
    
    He immigrated to South Africa with a John Brownlee, his cousin; it is thought between 1812 and 1816. (There is no evidence that John Brownlee was the famous missionary who came to South Africa, on the “Alacrity” in 1816, and later founded King William’s Town; although he was married to a family member of Thomas Peter McDonald’s wife, and from the same farm.)
    Married Elizabeth Catherine van Wyk in 1832.
    Farmed on Jonkersfontein farm in Swellendam district.
    Had 7 children.

    All the above information is from Rina Mans. Rina is a descendant of a brother of Dennis Johannes McDonald, also named Thomas Peter McDonald, 1.3.
    Rina contacted Tessa because she was in possession of a letter written by Tessa’s father, Colin Hojem, 1-1-1-3-3, enquiring about the McDonald’s.

                Farmed on Fairiedale farm in Bethulie district, Free State, South Africa.
                    When Lodewyk retired he was Mayor of Wepener. 
                   Then he went to farm in Vryburg, (+- 1911) North West, South Africa.
