Ruth was born in 1906.  Ruth's father was Henrik (Henry) Bjornestad and her mother was Anna Bjornestad.  Her paternal grandparents were Andreas Kristiansen Bjornestad and Anne Serine Bjornestad (Oftebro). She had three brothers and two sisters, named Harold, Marshal, Woodrow, Katrine and Serine.  She died at the age of 88 in 1994.
