Margaret was born on June 22nd, 1861 in Prahran, Victoria, Australia..  Margaret's father was John Thomas Izod and her mother was Margaret Russell.  Her paternal grandparents are Thomas Ebenezer Izod and Unknown; her maternal grandparents are William Russell and Mary Unknown. She had four brothers and two sisters, named Thomas Russell, William Henry, Alfred, John Edward, Alice Stride and Maria.
