  • I am a document trader & collector & recently purchased an original muster roll/pay document for Co. D of the NC 3rd Light Artillery which was formed on 9/21/1861 at Craven County, NC.
    
    One of the soldiers on the list is Benjamin Franklin McCotter, Sr. who was 19 years old when he enlisted and was mustered into Co. C on 10/23/1861 as a private. On 1/31/1862 he was promoted to Corporal. He was taken POW on 1/15/1865 at Ft. Fisher and confined at Point Lookout, MD from where he was released on 6/29/1865.
    
    I am interested in additional information about any of the soldiers from this company and am glad to provide descendants pictures of the muster roll and to offer as much information as I have about it. The list below is the full list of all of the soldiers on the muster roll. Please let me know if you know anything about any of these soldiers.
