  • About Thomas Jefferson Wynn's military service, Emma Jane was the
    daughter of Thomas' boyhood friend and army comrade (John Sharon). From
    
    
    
    
    
    
    John Sharon's obit, I find that John served in the 185th Ohio Col.
    Infantry. I have yet to write for their military/pension records, but
    plan to do so soon (I have been planing this for over a year, so whatever
    soon means). I do know that the 185th was a garrison unit.
    I received most of my information from my Great-Uncle, Charles Wynn
    Cragg (son of Lena Fay Wynn and Floyd Carl Cragg. I believe hereceived
    most of his information from a cousin, Betty Wynn McGehee. From what I
    understand, Betty has been researching this family for years. I have not
    made contact with Betty, as I understand her health is poor.
    I have Lena's death certificate, and other obits and will be happy to
    send you copies. I donot have a web site up for this side of the family
    
    
    
    
    
    
    line, put plan to put oneup soon. I also have some pictures and would be
    happy to scan them and send you a copy (I can not identify everyone in
    them).
    My information lists JaneMcQuiston Fulton as a widow. She was born
    on 26 Dec 1794 in PA and died 02 May 1849 in Guernsey Co., OH. Thomas was
    born in 1796 in Fayette Co., PA married 07 Feb 1822 in Westmoreland Co.,
    PA and died about 1821 in Fayette Co., PA. I have not written for his
    estate records as of yet. Also, I have not checked my information with
    your information and I can not prove this is correct at this time. I can
    only assume that Thomas and Jane eloped, as they picked Westmoreland Co.,
    to be married in, and for a number of years it seems that everyone eloped
    to Westmoreland Co.
    I have several pages (over 100) of T. B. Deem's book on the Wynne but
    just recently made the connection to Isaac Wynn (through another web
    site).  I also just made the connection on the Gist side, seems all I
    really need to do was to find you!
    The Guernsey Co., OH marriage record for Thomas J. Wynn and Violet
    Gist states:
    I Thomas J. Wynn make solemum oath that I am unmarried amn of the lawful
    age of 2X and that Violet Mc. Gist is over 18 years of xx and not XXXXXX
    of kin that first cousin. Axx She resides in this county. Thomas J.
    XXXXXXX

    I have the same date of death for Thomas Jefferson Wynn as youdo, but no
    obit. I live in Riley, Kansas  and should be able to fill these gaps,
    either with information I can gather here or by taking a trip to Allen
    County.
    Thomas J. Wynn and Violet Gist also had 2 daughters, Emily & Sadie that
    
    
    
    
    
    
    died prior to Harrison (from Harrison's obit).

    Mrs. Wynn Dead.
    Mrs. Violet M. Wynn died Monday evening, Oct 11, at the home of her
    daughter, Mrs. Geo. D. Voglesong at Iola, Kas. She had been in ill health
    for six months and her death is attributed to pneumonia and general
    decline.
    Mrs. Wynn was born in Guernsey Co., OH, and was in her 76th year at her
    
    
    
    
    
    
    death. She was married there in 1854 to Thomas J. Wynn in the early 70s
    
    
    
    
    
    
    they located in this county, on a farm south ofPaola, where they lived
    until Mr. Wynn's death about twelve years ago. Soon after her husband's
    
    
    
    
    
    
    death Mrs. Wynn and son George removed to a farm near Lone Elm and about
    six years ago she removed to Iola. Mrs. Wynn was a member of the
    Methodist church since girlhood, lived a devoted Christian life and spoke
    only good of people. She managed her business affairs with rare capacity
    and before her death provided for a division of her property among her
    children, so that it will not be necessary to have an administrator. She
    is survivedby seven children, Bert and George in Pawnee co., John and
    Mrs. Thos. Kinzeyin Allen-co, Mrs John Huddleson at Humboldt., Mrs
