Richard was born in 1643 in Virginia, United States.  Richard's father was Thomas Willis and his mother was Mary Willis.  His maternal grandfather was Richard Bentley. He had a brother and a sister, named John and Eleanor.  He was the oldest of the three children. He had a half-brother named Richard.
