Sarah J was born in 1868 in St. Mary's Co., MD.¹ Sarah J's father was George Washington Bradburn and her mother was Catherine Elizabeth Lomax. Her paternal grandparents were James Bradburn and Elizabeth Benedicta Martin. She had two brothers and a sister, named Thomas M, Francis Eli and Margret E. She was the oldest of the four children.
