Klaus was born in 1835.  Klaus' father was Arne Arnesen Klakegg Egge and his mother was Nicolaia Andersdotter.  His paternal grandparents were Arne Larson and Johanne Eriksdotter. He had a brother and two sisters, named Klaus Johannes Arneson, Ingeborg and Johannes.  He was the second oldest of the four children.
