William was born about 1597 in of,Lancashire,England and his baptism took place on April 23rd, 1615 in , Westbury Leigh, Wiltshire, England.1   William's father was William Thompson and his mother was Phillis Thompson.  His paternal grandparents were Henry Thompson and Dorothy Honeywood. He had a sister named Elizabeth.  He was the younger of the two children.  He died on December 10th, 1666 in Braintree,Norfolk,Massachusetts.1
