William was born in 1774 in Ormskirk,Lancashire,England and his baptism took place there on October 23rd, 1774.  William's father was James Pennington and his mother is Ann Smith.  His paternal grandparents are Wiklain Pennington and Annie; his maternal grandfather is William Smith.  He was an only child.  He died at the age of 75 on August 2nd, 1849 in Bickerstaffe,Lancashire,England.
