Matthew was born in 1600 in , Great Bentley, Essex, England and his baptism took place there on March 26th, 1601.1   Matthew's father was Edward Marvin and his mother was Margaret Elizabeth Convin.  His paternal grandfather was Rynalde Mervyn.  He was an only child.  He died at the age of 78 on December 20th, 1678 in Norwalk, Fairfield, Connecticut.  He was buried in Hartford, Hartford, Connecticut.1 1
