John was born in 1603 in Canterbury, Kent, , England.1   John's father was Giles Bishop and his mother is Betsy Tupper.  His paternal grandparents were Giles Bishop and Ann Birt.  He was an only child.  He died at the age of 71 in 1674 in James City, Virginia, United States.1
