Tobias was born on April 12th, 1898 in Rouxville. Tobias' father was Jacobus Johannes x van Blerk and his mother was Annie Justina du Toit (van Blerk). He had four brothers and three sisters, named John, Unnamed, Alburtus Hendrik, Jacobus Johannes, Annie Justina, Daisy and Margrietha Magdalena. He died at the age of 41 on March 9th, 1940 in Boksburg/Benoni Hospital, Boksburg. He was buried in Boksburg, Main cemetery.
