Nicolaas Johannes' father was Nicolaas Johannes van Blerk and his mother was Barbara Jacoba Colijn (van Blerk). His paternal grandparents were Nicolaas Johannes van Blerk and Maria Magdalena Auret; his maternal grandparents were Lambert Johannes Colijn and Johanna Christina Cornelia Louw (Colijn). He had three brothers and five sisters, named Hugh Colijn, Lambert Colijn, Leslie John Hambley, Johanna Leonora, Maria Magdalena, Hester Hendrika Dolly Colijn, Mary Kathleen and Helena Dolly.General Notes
Nickname is Johnny and he never married.
From Nico :- One of NJ (Johny`s) sisters was Helen. Helen`s daughter gave me the following: "Thanks for the photos. Yes that's Johnie for sure.What a fun guy. He had one glass eye ( which he took out to terrorize us) - his medal from the World war, and the other eye had colour blindness. He lived in the room on Ouma's front stoep, to the right of the stairs,and did absolutely all of the property maintenance for her. Interspersed with trips to the local hotel for refreshment with ex-army buddies!"
