Rajani was born on July 16th, 1957 in Bilaspur. Rajani's father was Late Saryu Prasad Awasthi Bilaspur (Putti) and his mother was Late krishna Devi Awasthi. His paternal grandparents were Late Umashankar Awasthi Padarikhurd and Late Rangeela Devi Awasthi. He has three brothers named Kaptan, Kamal and Vimal . He is the youngest of the four children.
