Frederick was born in 1862 in Dorking, Surrey.  Frederick's father was Joseph Kilbey and his mother was Elizabeth Quint.  His paternal grandparents were Joseph Kilbey and Rebecca; his maternal grandparents were James Quint and Elizabeth. He had a sister named Adelaide.  He was the older of the two children.  He died at the age of 79 in 1941 in Hastings, East Sussex.
