George was born in 1815 in Westmoreland, Pennsylvania.1   George's father was John Hill and his mother was Jane Moorehead.  His paternal grandparents were George Hill and Elizabeth McClelland. He had three sisters named Agnes, Elizabeth and Sarah.  He was the oldest of the four children.  He died at the age of 80 in 1895 in Blairsville, PA.1
