Martin was born on August 29th, 1897.  Martin's father was John H Flournoy and his mother was Romania Cozzens (Flournoy). He had five brothers and four sisters, named Alex, John, Eugene, Raymond, Clifford, Martha, Mary, Louise and Laura.  He was the fifth youngest of the ten children.  He died at the age of 89 in July 1987.  He was buried in Zachary Taylor National Cemetery, Louisville, KY, Section D Site 469-A.1
