Bessie's father was John Herman Flourney and her mother was Marie Miller (Flourney).  Her paternal grandparents were John H Flournoy and Romania Cozzens (Flournoy). She had six brothers and six sisters, named John, James, Eugene, Raymond, Florence, John, Anita, Mary, Jennie, Rosie, Alice and Catherine.
