Duncan was born in 1550 in Glenorchy, Scotland.1   Duncan's father was Colin Campbell and his mother was Katherine Ruthven.  His paternal grandparents were Colin Campbell and Marjory Stewart; his maternal grandparents were William Ruthven and Lady Janet Halyburton Baroness (Ruthven).  He was an only child.  He died at the age of 81 in 1631 in Glenorchy, Scotland.1
