Selina Mary was born in 1846.  Selina Mary's father was Lewis Gellie Hamilton and her mother was Selina Edwards.  Her paternal grandparents were John Hamilton and Isabelle Gellie. She had four brothers and two sisters, named Lewis Cossart, John James, Charles Howard, Hugh  Henry, Frances Anne and Louisa Gellie.  She was the fifth oldest of the seven children.  She died at the age of 24 in 1870.
