John, known as Marques de Somerset, was born in 1373 in Beaufort, Maine-et-Loire, Pays de la Loire, France.  Marques de Somerset's father was John (Duque de Lancaster) de Gaunt and his mother was Katherine Swynford.  His paternal grandparents were  Eduardo III  Rey de Inglaterra and Philippa de Hainault.  He was an only child.  He died at the age of 37 on March 16th, 1410 in London, Middlesex, England.
