Robert Morrison Spinney

Robert was born on July 11th, 1839 in Portsmouth, Rockingham County, New Hampshire.¹ Robert's father was Samuel Spinney and his mother was Sybil G. Bunker. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Spinney and Mary Huntress; his maternal grandparents were Valentine Bunker and Hannah Phillips. He had five brothers and six sisters, named Thomas, Daniel, Daniel, Chesley, Frank, Ellen, Harriet, Sarah, Virginia, Grace and Delia. He was the sixth oldest of the twelve children. He died at the age of 73 on June 4th, 1913 in Medford, Middlesex County, Massachusetts. He was buried in Medford, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.¹¹

General Notes
- Robert enlisted in the Civil War on April 19, 1861. He was promoted to Full Corporal sometime between 1861 and 1863. He was promoted to Full Sergeant on February 14, 1863. He was promoted to Full Second Lieutenant on March 10 1864 for Company D of the 7th Infantry Regiment. He was promoted to Brevet Captain on March 13, 1865. He was promoted to Full First Lieutenant on May 30, 1865 for Company B. His regiment mustered out on October 13, 1866.
