Edyth Spinney

Edyth was born in 1906 in Yarmouth County, Nova Scotia. Edyth's father was Leroy B. Spinney and her mother was Margaret (Maggie) B. Goodwin. Her paternal grandparents were Hiram Spinney and Edith A. Nickerson; her maternal grandparents are Thomas Goodwin and Mary Crowell. She had a brother and a sister, named Donald and Stella. She was the youngest of the three children. She died at the age of 91 on April 13th, 1997 in Worcester, Worcester County, Massachusetts. The funeral took place on April 14th, 1997 in 1158 Main Street, Holden, Massachusetts and was arranged by Miles Funeral Home. She was buried on April 14th, 1997 in Hope Cemetery.

  Worcester - Edythe M. (Spinney) Bailey, 91, formerly of Canterbury Towers, a shoe stitcher for 42 years, died yesterday in University Commons Nursing Care center after an illness. Her husband, Richard M. Bailey, died in 1985. She leaves a son, David O. Bailey of Lagrangeville, N.Y.; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A son, Bruce Bailey of Hopkinton, died in 1988. She was born in Yarmouth County, Nova Scotia, daughter of Leroy and Margaret (Goodwin) Spinney, and lived here 76 years. She graduated from David Hale Fanning Trade High School. Mrs. Bailey was a stitcher at Bickford, Sweet & Hammond Shoe Co. for 42 years before she retired. She was a member of the Aldersgate United Methodist Church.
  A funeral service will be held at noon tomorrow in Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. Burial will be private in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are 11 a.m. to noon tomorrow at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 1048 Main St., Worcester 01603.
