Dow was born on March 12th, 1909 in Tamworth, Carroll County, New Hampshire. Dow's father was Charles L. Dow and his mother was Nettie M. Tewksbury. His paternal grandparents were John C. Dow and Augusta Smith; his maternal grandparents are Samuel W. Tewksbury and Emma Bean. He was an only child. He died at just 3 days old on March 15th, 1909.
